Staubitz Market, established in 1917 by John Staubitz, opened as a butcher store, and is now the oldest butcher still operating in New York. John McFadden and his son, John McFadden Jr. now own Staubitz Market. It has been in the McFadden family for over 50 years. As part of its charm, it still maintains the old fashioned warmth of sawdust-strewn floors as well as many other original features from the turn of the century.
Their day starts at 6:00am where they personally hand-select every piece of prime meat, poultry, game and other provisions that enter the store. The meats are then meticulously cut and trimmed by hand utilizing only hand tools, dated back from the beginning of the store, to ensure the tradition of quality cuts of meat.
Customer loyalty has also been maintained down through the generations as Staubitz prides itself on impeccable customer service. They will custom cut orders as required for any occasion, big or small. To this day, they still offer free delivery and have managed to fulfill and ship orders for loyal clients out of state or even out of the country. Staubitz Market has kept the tradition of good, quality food, and goes out of its way to provide customers with fast and friendly service.

Evolution has taken hold of this fine establishment in only the ways necessary to maintain its past history of stability while adding to its already fine selection of quality foods, specialty items as well as exotic meats and wild game. As you come through the original screen door and glance around, you'll feel a bit of nostalgia come over you. The fresh selection of premium meats are carefully arranged and displayed in the original showcase. The same ornamented tin ceiling, which holds the soft lights that illuminate the product line, is still beautifully intact. A beautiful antique cashiers booth with its original stained and cut glass, and other original artifacts are still utilized today. The proprietors continue to preserve the history and ambience of the store.
